Meeting Schedule

Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday in January, March, May, September and November.
Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and typically run until about 8:30 p.m.

We are currently meeting via Zoom with occasional hybrid sessions.

Tracing your Irish Ancestors by John Grenham
The definitive guide on researching your Irish roots, John Grenham’s encyclopedic knowledge is condensed into this book, with sections on available records for each county.

Researching Scots-Irish ancestors, the essential genealogical guide to early modern Ulster 1600-1800 by William J. Roulston
When focusing on Northern Ireland, an understanding of Ulster Scots, or Scots-Irish is essential. Roulston’s guide provides lots of information for making the difficult jump back pre-1800s in in Northern Ireland.

A New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland by Brian Mitchell
In order to research in Ireland, you must understand the geographical and administrative boundaries that were created by different entries over time. This will help you determine where the existing records are and where you should be looking.

A Guide to Irish Parish Registers by Brian Mitchell
Because of the challenges in Irish research (including a lack of early census records), religious records are often the first collection that researchers are directed towards when researching the period before civil registration. This guidebook provides an excellent background to using the Irish Parish Registers (many of which are now online).
